My Sony A7IV arrived on Christmas Eve and I spent the last 3 weeks learning the settings.
This video addresses customization suggestions as well as minor issues with the camera.
The A7IV is a significant upgrade over the Sony A7C and I hope Sony addresses the battery and (potential) file codec issues.
Note: This video was shot on the Sony A7C with the Sony 35MM 1.8
I purchased the Tamron 28-200 F2.8-5.6 during a Black Friday sale. I spent the last two weeks making videos and taking pictures to get more familiar with the lens.
A few weeks in, I really like this lens. At 28MM, it compares favorably to the Tamron 17-28 2.8 (as it should). For what it is, the lens is light (at just over 1 lb.) and gives very good range.
I am going to enjoy using the lens over the next year(s).
I purchased the Sony 18-105MM F4 lens last February for my A5100 APS-C camera. After almost a year of using the lens in my travel kit, my opinion on the lens has changed and I wanted to share those thoughts.
Note: I did update the firmware on the lens to version 4 after experiencing some issues.
I recently purchased the Sony ECM-B1M digital shotgun microphone for the Alpha ecosystem.
The benefits of this microphone are:
1. The input is purely digital audio
2. The controls are physical on the microphone (so you don’t have to change settings in the menu).
3. The hot shoe connection eliminates the need for a 3.5MM wire.

My friend recently gifted me this Sony ECM-XYST1M camera microphone. The benefit to using a mic like this is that you don’t have to use a 3.5MM cable which enables a cleaner camera set up.
