DJI Osmo Pocket 3: My Real-World Test & Thoughts

In this video, I share my honest first thoughts and impressions of the new DJI Osmo Pocket 3! As a long-time user of the original DJI Osmo Pocket, I was excited to see how the Pocket 3 improved upon its predecessor.

Here’s what I cover:

  • My experience with the original Osmo Pocket and why I loved its portability.
  • The incredible upgrades of the Osmo Pocket 3, including the 1-inch sensor and seamless DJI Mic 2 integration.
  • Why I chose the full DJI Mic 2 set (2 mics + receiver) instead of the Creator Combo.
  • Real-world test: A windy walk in my neighborhood to test the Pocket 3’s stabilization and microphone performance.
  • My concerns about DJI privacy, the MIMO app, and app store availability.
  • Overall recommendation, and who this device is for.

The Osmo Pocket 3 delivers stunning image quality and audio, and the compact design is perfect for on-the-go content creation. Watch to see if it’s the right camera for you!

Sony ZV-1 First Impressions

The Sony ZV-1 arrived last Friday and I have been taking it with me to understand the camera’s benefits and limitations.

The size makes this camera a winner, but it is not without issues. The small 1-inch sensor struggles in dark situations and there are some questionable design choices.

PS: I mentioned a clamp-style wide-angle adapter in the video, it can be found here: https://amzn.to/3B628yx

Sony A7IV: First Impressions

My Sony A7IV arrived on Christmas Eve and I spent the last 3 weeks learning the settings.

This video addresses customization suggestions as well as minor issues with the camera.

The A7IV is a significant upgrade over the Sony A7C and I hope Sony addresses the battery and (potential) file codec issues.

Note: This video was shot on the Sony A7C with the Sony 35MM 1.8

Sony 35mm F 1.8 Lens Review

I recently purchased a Sony 35mm F1.8 lens (SEL35F18F) and paired it with my A7C to make this review.

The low light performance is very good, but at the end of the video I was overly optimistic about the low light performance (I literally shut all of the lights off), as expected the ISO ramped up and caused some grain.

It still looked sharp and clear with very minimal lighting and I am looking forward to playing around with background lighting when I use it again.

Playing with old Canon Lenses

I found a two Canon FD lenses that I bought on ebay a while ago. I wondered if they would work with my Sony E-mount cameras, so I ordered an adapter ring and started playing around.

The lenses:

  • Canon FD 50MM 1.8
  • Canon FD 35MM 2.8

I took pictures indoors and out, and did some talking head video indoors.

My general conclusion is – while it is nice to play with old lenses, the new technology is far superior and makes life so much easier. You can not self-film/vlog with old manual lenses. I also really needed a ND filter outside.

Genaray LED-6800 Light Review

I purchased the Genaray LED 6800 light via a B&H daily sale last week and wanted to do a review since there isn’t much information online about it.

It gets the job done, but there are some cheaper elements to the design and connection points that need additional consideration.

I also used this video as an opportunity to test out different shots within my house to film videos.
