London Hotel Reviews – 3 Different Locations!

Planning a trip to London or traveling for work in the surrounding areas? In this honest hotel review and comparison, I break down my experiences at three very different hotels during a week-long trip to England in June 2025:

🏨 Strand Palace Hotel – 372 Strand, London
✔️ Prime central location near Covent Garden and West End
❌ Odd bathroom setup, expensive for the value
🛏️ Clean and convenient, but not quite full luxury

🏨 DoubleTree by Hilton – Woking, England
✔️ Budget-friendly and decently clean
❌ Located far from attractions, limited charm
🥱 Best for work travel or a quick overnight

🏨 Hotel Indigo – 1 Leicester Square, London
✔️ Stylish, vibrant location in the heart of London nightlife
📍 Steps from theatres, dining, and iconic landmarks
💤 A fun final night stay with energy and flair

I compare price, cleanliness, amenities, and proximity to tourist attractions and transit options to help you decide where to stay — whether you’re in London for leisure or heading out to Woking for business.

Island Creamery in Chincoteague, VA

Our second year back in Chincoteague, VA wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the legendary Island Creamery—a local gem that continues to impress.

🍦 This time, we were excited to see a new sugar-free Butter Pecan ice cream on the menu—rich, creamy, and surprisingly low impact on blood sugar (for those who need to watch it). A welcome addition for anyone looking for great taste without the sugar crash.

☕ Their espresso shots and cappuccinos were fantastic, though the Americano could use a little refinement. Still, it’s clear they take pride in what they serve.

💬 The staff is as friendly as ever, and the shop remains a beloved part of the Chincoteague community. This place is more than just dessert—it’s a tradition.

🍨 Highlights:

  • New Sugar-Free Butter Pecan Ice Cream
  • Espresso & Cappuccino
  • Friendly, Community-Focused Service
  • A Must-Visit Stop for Any Chincoteague Trip

Seafood Feast at Steamers in Chincoteague, VA

Looking for the best seafood spot in Chincoteague, Virginia? We hit up Steamers Restaurant on a guy’s weekend trip—and it did not disappoint.

Known for its ultra-fresh crab legs, clams, and oysters, Steamers was the perfect stop for my seafood-loving friends. But even as the odd man out, I found a gem: their Friday Night Prime Rib Special, which was unexpectedly fantastic.

Big shoutout to the amazing staff at Steamers—super friendly and very patient, especially with our wildcard, Pipey Rob (a.k.a. the remorseless eating machine). Let’s just say… the bottomless crab legs never stood a chance.

📍 Location: Steamers Restaurant, Chincoteague, VA
🍽️ Highlights: Prime Rib Special, Crab Legs, Clams, Oysters
👨‍👨‍👦‍👦 Vibes: Laid-back, fun, and perfect for big groups
🤣 Bonus: Watch Pipey Rob go full beast mode on a mountain of seafood

Massive Costa Rican Meat Feast at Restaurante Nuestra Tierra

Join us as we dive into a MASSIVE meat tray at Restaurante Nuestra Tierra, right in the heart of San José, Costa Rica!

We ordered a giant platter loaded with steak, sausage, chicken, pork ribs, and crispy chicharrón — and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the flavors were authentic, and the portions were HUGE! Plus, the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

That said — this spot definitely has a bit of a tourist trap vibe. It’s a lively place that’s clearly popular with visitors, so if you’re looking for a super local, low-key experience, just keep that in mind. But honestly? We still had a great time and would recommend it if you’re craving classic Costa Rican food in the city center.
